Our story told by the founder…
The idea of creating an international association bringing together researchers, academics and practitioners working in the field of resilience gradually developed as part of the reflection undertaken during the meetings and work of the group that worked within the framework of the “Trauma, Resilience, Psychotherapies” Center at the Université de Paris 8 Saint-Denis from 2005 to 2009. Together with foreign partners, members of the Center organized five International Forums: in Saint Petersburg (2006), Chelyabinsk (2007), Timişoara (2007), Blagoevgrad (2008) and Louvain (2009). As a result of the research carried out, in 2011, the “Traité de resilience assistée” was published by Presses Universitaires de France, under my direction and with the collaboration of 23 specialists from Belgium, Canada, France, Romania and Rwanda. At the same time, doctoral research work was carried out, resulting in 17 theses proposed at Université de Paris 8.
During the work of the 1st World Congress on resilience, held in Paris in June 2012, themed “From research to practice”, the need to broaden contacts between researchers and practitioners was strongly emphasized. It was in Timişoara, at the 2nd World Congress (May 2014), that a group of participants decided that all the conditions were right for an international association to be founded. Thus, on November 29, 2014, following the publication of the declaration of its creation in the Official Journal of the French Republic, the Association Resilio was born, a name chosen for the Latin roots of the word resilience.
As founding president of Resilio, I invite you to join our association and support its activities by actively participating in the scientific events we organize, by initiating international research projects involving Resilio members, and by disseminating the information resulting from these projects.
